Being a Michael Jackson tribute episode, Blaine starts off by leading the group in the hallway with “You Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”.

Finn is keen to get an answer from Rachel about his proposal but though she loves him, she needs some time to think about it – she’s only young after all! The Glee Club rumble with the Warblers and perform “Bad” where Sebastian slushies Blaine at the end. Blaine, unfortunately for him, ends up in ER with a badly scratched cornea which infuriates Arnie who wants revenge. He heads off into a dream sequence to the theme of “Stop Pressurin’ Me”.

In the girl’s bathrooms, Quinn is cornered by Rachel about answering Quinn’s proposal. Quinn tells Rachel she’s been accepted to go Yale University and isn’t going to be hanging around with any of the guys she used to date. She tells Rachel that if she wants her big dreams to come true she has to leave Finn behind when they graduate. Then Quinn sings “Never Can Say Goodbye” to Finn, Sam and Puck.

Santana and Kurt take to the moral high ground and refuse to get involved in Artie’s revenge plan because they both want to get into a college and don’t want it on their permanent record. However, they do vow to beat them, however they can, at the Nationals.

Mercedes receives a text message from Sam who wants to meet her in the auditorium where her name is up on a marquee in lights. He wants her to sing a duet with him but whilst she appreciates his sentiments, she still turns him down. However, they end up singing “Human Nature” together and sharing a kiss.

Kurt’s dad appears at the school with a letter from NIYATA which they open in the rehearsal to find that Kurt is a finalist. His father is very proud of him and gives him a hug, telling him that he is unstoppable. Kurt rushes off to find Rachel to tell her and she starts to cry because she didn’t get a bid from that performing arts college. Kurt tries to comfort her as she wails about her lack of plans for her future.

Blaine, who is sporting an eye patch, gets a visit in the hospital from Blaine. Finn and Rachel also turn up with a stack of DVD’s that all feature someone wearing an eye patch. They make a toast to Kurt and then sing “Ben”.

At the Warbler practice Santana confronts Sebastian demanding he admits he put something in the slushy. Sebastian refuses to say anything except it was meant for Kurt instead of Blaine. Santana insists he is lying to her so Sebastian challenges her to a dual. Accompanied by just two cellists they duet together on Smooth Criminal. She insists she was get better singer after the performance and Sebastian admits to putting rock salt in the slushie.

Santana immediately seeks out Kurt and the other members of the Glee Club to show them the admission, which she recorded on video. Kurt doesn’t want to punish them though, he wants to do much worse … he wants to beat them. He orders the Glee club to gather in the auditorium for a council of war.

Rachel apologises to Finn on the way for her lack of an answer to his proposal. Finn tells her to just listen and sings “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” to her. At the end of the song Rachel joins in and tells Finn that he is the love of her life and she would love to marry him. He gives her the ring he had in his pocket and they share a hug.

In the auditorium Kurt has gathered the Warblers too and New Directions perform “Black Or White” for them. Before the song finishes, the Warblers join in with New Directions, everyone except Sebastian that is. Santana reveals they have caught him on video and gives him the tape, telling him they’d rather he was at the finals so they can see his face after they defeat him and his team.

At the end of the episode Rachel meets up with Kurt to tell him that she too has got a letter from NIYATA and is a finalist too. Kurt is overjoyed for her and asks if she has told Finn. As the episode ends, we see Rachel with a look of regret on her face.

Meanwhile, Finn is struggling to forgive his girlfriend for betraying him by kissing Pick. Rachel sings us two great songs, “Merry Christmas Darling” by the Carpenters and “Last Christmas” by Wham!.

At Dalton Academy, Kurt sings a song to flirt with Blaine – a rather well choreographed version of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Dean Martin and more recently Rainn Wilson and Selma Blair. The chemistry between Kurt and Blaine is very obvious and they really milk this performance, ending up sat on a couch giving each other “that” look!

Back at McKinley High, Artie realizes that Brittany still believes in Santa and doesn’t want this innocent belief destroyed, though he very soon realizes that this may have been a mistake. Brittany goes to see Santa and tells him her Christmas wish is for Artie to be able to walk.

Together with the rest of the Glee Club, Artie comes up with a plan to help keep Christmas alive and asks Coach Beiste to play Santa. She dresses up and goes to Brittany’s house to tell her that her wish is a very hard miracle for Santa to perform. Naturally, Brittany is a bit down about this, but with the help of some Israeli technology and a secret gift giving Santa, her wish is granted and Artie walks for the first time.

Sue dresses up as the Grinch and through a mean trick, ends up as everybody’s secret Santa. She buys all the presents, has them repossessed and then steams them again!

However, when She and Becky hear the Glee Club singing “Welcome Christmas” from How The Grinch Stole Christmas they have an epiphany and realize the miracle of Christmas. Sue goes to Will’s house, lights the fire in his fireplace and apologizes for being a Grinch. She then brings in the Glee kids to join him so he’s not alone for Christmas.

This week, the Glee Club are assignd the task of picking partner and singing a love song to them. Finn sets himself up with a kissing booth for $1 a kiss and is donating the proceeds to charity as part of his plan to get Quinn to leave Sam. If he can kiss her one more time then perhaps she’ll leave him to be with Finn.

Blaine informs the Warblers that he wants to ask his crush out for Valentine’s Day and needs their help to serenade him. Kurt, who has a crush on Blaine now, thinks it is him and is disturbed to find out it is actually Jeremiah. Luckily for Kurt, Jeremiah doesn’t feel the same way about Blaine and is even less keen on him when he gets fired from his job after the Warblers perform in the store he works in.

Puck has decided he really likes Lauren and wants a date with her on Valentine’s Day. He performs a song for her with the intent of persuading her to go on the date, but it has the opposite effect and offends her. Eventually he persuades her to go on a date, and then she stands him up.

It seems that Santana is the only single girl at school for Valentine’s Day and when she realizes Puck doesn’t want to get back together with her, she focuses her attention on Finn and Quinn. Santana adopts biological warfare methods and contracts mono from another student. She then goes to Finn’s kissing booth and passes it on to him.

Quinn kisses Finn to prove that she doesn’t have feelings for him still and ends up contracting mono herself. Later, we see Finn and Quinn in the auditorium making out.

At the kissing booth, Rachel also wants her kiss, but only gets a peck on the cheek to which she causes a scene. Finn tells her that he still has feelings for her even though that aren’t together and gives her a gold necklace with a star on it, a belated Christmas present.

Because Quinn and Finn have mono they are both sent home from school. Kurt is cheering up Blaine after his rejection and ends up confessing his love, which Blaine is happy to have.

Over at Bread Sticks, the couples enjoy their dates whilst the Warblers serenade them.

Glee Episodes Review

The Cheerios perform an outstanding routine to Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” involving BMX bikers, blue smurf wigs, some fire twirling and raunchy moves (you’ve got to watch it to believe it), Sue Sylvester can’t say a good thing about them – she’s bored. As always, the cheerleading squad start to blame each other and the end result is Quinn concluding that Sue needs to be inspired again.

For the first time in many years, the Titans are off to the state championship thanks to the hard work of Coach Bieste in leading them. Finn congratulates his team on the field and calls the next play, but David, a closeted homosexual who bullies Kurt) jokes that Finn is gay for being in the Glee Club. Finn responds by questioning why David never seems to have a girlfriend and he responds by telling Finn he will not block for him on the field. Because of this Finn blows the play and Coach Bieste is furious with the team after the game has finished.

Sue is alone in her office, writing about her lack of inspiration in her journal. Sue is after new thrills and we find out she’s recently had a big tattoo of herself and her name on her back, but the tattoo artist spelt her last name wrong, Syvlester. Her gaze is drawn to the television and a spark glimmers in her eye when she sees a cannonball in an old Felix the Cat cartoon.

The next day, Sue is out on the field testing a human cannonball launcher to use in the big half time show. She gets very excited when she seems the occupant fly through the field goal and land safely in the net.

Coach Bieste is very distraught over the failure of her team and turns to Mr Schuester to come up with a plan to bring back some team spirit. Will decides that the solution is to make the football team join the Glee club for a week. The Coach announces these just as the Glee Club members of the team are about to take on the rest of the team over the slushing of Arty. Puck and Rachel sing TK, which seems to impress the players, but a fight almost breaks out when one of them provokes Puck with the comment “The girl with the Mohawk has a really nice voice”.

Puck apologies to Finn for wronging him and wants to reform their bro-llianec and bring the team back together to win the state competition.

Sue shows the Cheerios her “Sue-Clear weapon” (her human cannonball launcher) and terrifies the girls. Sue chooses Brittney as the human missile and Brittney is scared witless, and doesn’t want to die “at least not until One Tree Hill gets cancelled”. Quinn decides to get Will Schuester to fix this and help Sue regain her senses.

In the principal’s office, Figgins is telling Sue she cannot perform such a dangerous stunt. Sue storms off to trash her office to Carmen Burana by Carl Orff. Once she’s finished with her office, she moves on to trashing the football locker room. She aims her vengeance, wrongly, at the football team, and moves the regional cheerleading competition to the same day as the state championship.

Quite obviously a lot of people turn up to a football match to watch the cheerleaders, and so Sue’s new arrangement will ruin the game for the Titans. Bieste is convinced that they are going to be completely screwed because of this but Will saves the day again. Will’s plan is for the Glee Club (including the football team) to perform an outstanding half time event in the form of Michael Jackon’s “Thriller”.

The rehearsals go well and it turns out that super critic and bully David actually has some talent. He works with Finn to create a good warm up routine so the half time show will be outstanding. Will’s plan appears to be working until Finn and Quinn argue over whether the Cheerios will stick with the Glee Club or go to their cheerleading competition.

The boys then sing “She’s Not There” by The Zombies (whilst in full zombie makeup) to reflext Finn’s disappointment in Quinn, which Will loves. In the school halls, another team slushes them for being “sissy kids” in a Glee Club. David wants to quit Glee but is told by Coach Bieste that if he quits Glee he’s off the football team. Finn is still convinced they can will it all by sticking together and nailing the half time routing. In spite of this, David walks out, quitting football and Glee.

The Warblers are rehearsing “Pay My Bills” by Destiny’s Child at Dalton and their harmonies are excellent. There’s little doubt they are ready for the regionals. After the rehearsal, the Warblers meet up with Rachel and Mercedes for coffee and catch up with each other. We also find out that none of the football players want to stay in the Glee Club and their coach is left with a dilemma – let them play or forfeit the game. However, the girls from the Glee club volunteer to join the team so there are enough players, though their plan is to just lay on the field to avoid getting hurt!

Brittany lets Sue talk her in to getting in to the cannon, in spite of her fear of it.

So on the game day we see the girls getting on the field with the guys and it doesn’t go very well except when Tina makes a run with the ball and ends up getting brutally sacked. Finn decides that their only hope is an amazing half time show. Sam ends up playing quarterback for the second half whilst Finn convinces the Cheerios to stay with the Glee club before leaving for their regional competition. The girls end up telling Sue that they quit from the cheerleaders in order to do so. Puck meets up with his team mates in the locker room and convinces them all, except David, to perform at half time so they can win the game.

The crowd loves the half time perfomance which is a mash up of “Thriller” and “Heads Will Roll” and even David joins them in the performance. After the half time performance the team is on top of the world and Coach Beiste lets them all play the second half. As expected, the Titans work well together and win the game!

With the win and the stunning performance, everyone is happy … except of course Sue, who is interviewed by Katie Couric for Loser Of The Year after blowing her chance to win another regional competition for the seventh year in a row! Couric also reveals that the Cheerio’s have lost their budget and the Glee Club gets the money instead.

Finn wants David to join the Glee club permanently, but David isn’t interested in doing so. Quinn thanks Finn for convincing her to do the right thing and kisses him.

Mercedes starts off with Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (nowhere near as amusing as HMS Ocean’s performance here) as the Glee Club decorates the Christmas tree. Mercede’s performance is enjoyable, but you do feel that it lacks that special something.

Finn is worrying over what to buy Rachel for Christmas (not that she’s high maintenance or anything) so Rachel helps out by giving him a list of fifteen things she wants. Very kindly she says he only has to buy her five of them! Finn points out that Rachel is acting rather like a Kardashian and needs to chill out a little.

Rory covered Elvis’s “Blue Christmas” which was good. As it’s Christmas and Rory is a good Irish lad, he’s missing his mom and wants some company. Sam has invited over to his house to spend Christmas with his family.

Rachel sings a Joni Mitchell song and it’s not particularly good. Artie calls her out on this song telling her “It makes me want to kill myself”.

New Directions are appearing on television, on Lima PBS, over Christmas and are practising hard to perform their own holiday special. Artie, the show’s director, is becoming more and more demanding and making the Glee Club hard work. It turns out that the program directory of LIma’s PBS station saw New Directions perform at the Sectionals and was keen for them to appear on the station for this Christmas special.

Artie takes on the role of pushy directory just a bit too eagerly and demands that their holiday special is happy go lucky.

Sue is spending Christmas without her sister Jean for the first time and wants the Glee Club to perform at the homeless shelter she helps out at, but it clashes with the recording of the holiday special so they can’t go. We find out Sue’s nickname for Blaine which is “Other Gay”. Don’t worry though, Sue hasn’t turned all nice, she’s just being good for Christmas so Santa visits her!

Here’s where it all goes a bit odd – we end up with a show within a show.

The Glee Holiday Spectacular is … well … ok but not as spectacular as they like to make out. Blaine and Kurt did a great rendition of “Let It Snow” whereas some of ther others weren’t quite as good. These two are hosting a gathering for their friends in their chalet and Rachel and Mercedes sing one of the songs from the Sound Of Music. Quite how that is a holiday song is beyond us, but they were in a chalet in the mountains so that much be the reasoning behind the song.

Finn and Puck rock out to “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” and we see the Cheerios as rhythmic dancers with twirling streamers and Brittany singing a song.

In the real world Finn has decided that because Rachel is a vegan the perfect present for her is an African sow pig which she names Barbra!

In case you were worrying how the Glee Club would manage to record their Christmas special and save the homeless shelter, they appear at the homeless shelter with turkey dinner and a fine rendition of “Don They Know It’s Christmas”.

In the end Finn sells his Letterman jacket in order to buy earrings and a star for Rachel. Because of Finn’s fine example of selflessness, Rachel has a change of heart and they return their gifts and donate the money to a charity that San and Rory have been assisting.

Glee Episodes Review

The Sectionals are upon us and Rachel is still banned from the competition and suspended from school. Quinn has hatched a plan to ensure they beat the Troubletones by getting Shelby fired for sleeping with Puck, a move undoubtedly spurned by jealousy and her desire to get Beth back.

Finn is keen to win the Sectionals and so decide that they need to bring Sam Evans back into the Glee Club to give them that little bit extra. We see Blaine and Kurt sharing a coffee and Blaine confessing he thinkgs Finn doesn’t approve of anything he says. Whilst they are out they meet Sebastian and Kurt makes it very clear he doesn’t want him anywhere near Blaine. Sebastian tells Kurt that he’s expecting not only to win the Nationals but Blaine’s heart before the end of the year.

Rachel and Finn travel out to Kentucky where they find Sam working as a dancer in a male strip club. He isn’t proud of the job but he needs to money to help his parents support their family. His parents don’t know he is working in the club. Sam asks his father’s permission and then returns to Lima with Rachel and Finn.

As soon as he returns, Quinn is keen to rekindle her relationship with Sam saying that she didn’t appreciate him when he was there. Quinn however, has an ulterior motive, she wants Sam in her live because it puts her in a stronger position for getting Beth back.

Sam though turns her down because he doesn’t want to be involved in her rich girl problems. Mike tells Tina that he’s applied to medical school because that’s what is family want him to do. Tina tells him to follow his dreams and stop trying to make everyone happy. She continues by telling him that if he’s not committed to following them then he should just become a doctor. He tells her that maybe his father was right and the two of them should not be together.

Whilst Sam was working in the strip club, he learnt a lot about dance moves, which he wants to bring back to New Directions to enhance their routines. Sam thinks that Blaine’s dancing is just a bit too “boy band” for many people, but Blaine thinks that the stripper moves are cheap and demeaning. Sam though thinks they have to do what it takes to win.

Blaine eventually gets the courage up to confront Finn about their clashing of personalities and Finn confesses he was jealous and felt threatened but he apologizes to Blaine and they make up. Sam meets up with Mercedes and tells her that no matter how big her new boyfriend is, he’s going to fight to win her back, even if she doesn’t want to rekindle their romance.

Tina goes to Dr. Chang’s office to show him a tape of Mike’s performance at the musical. She wants his dad to forget about the honor thing and the family business and help his son live his dreams. Dr Chang only wants to protect his son from the rejection he is inevitably going to face following his dream. Later though, Mike tells Tina things are now worse with his dad than before.

The Trouble Tones have an offer for New Directions at the Sectionals. If the Trouble Tones should win, then they will (very graciously) accept any members from New Directions who wants to join them. Unsurprisingly, this kind offer is declined.

Quinn makes the time to confront Shelby and blasts her for returning to Lima. She informs Shelby that she is going to ruin her by exposing her relationship with Puck. Shelby almost pityingly tells Quinn to value her youth whilst it lasts because it is fleeting and will be gone before she knows it. She says that he had hoped Puck would make her feel younger again.

The first performance at the Sectionals is The Unitards who perform “Burenos Aires” from Evita. It’s an okay performance, but nobody would say it was brilliant.

During the perfomances, there’s a few shock appearances in the audience. Kurt is shocked to see Sebastian, but nowhere near as shocked as Mike who sees his father sat in the audience.

The Trouble Tones perform a good mash up on “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child and “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor with Mercedes and Santana taking the lead.

New Directions perform a Jackson family tribute starting with “ABC” by Jackson 5 led by Tina and Mike. They move on to “Control” by Janet Jackson” sung by Blaine and Artie – the singing isn’t that good, but the dancing is superb. Finally they move on to “The Man In The Mirror” by Michael Jackson.

New Directions deliver a stunning performance which brings the entire audience to their feet, including Mr. Chang who goes backstage to find his suon. He tells Mike that he will support his dreams to be a dancer and will help him get in to the best possible dance school.

It’s not too much of a surprise when New Directions win the Sections with the Trouble Tones in second place. Rachel’s suspension is now over and Quinn thanks Racehl for stopping her from doing something she would have regretted – exposing Shelby and Puck.

Quinn also approaches the girls from the Trouble Tones and asks them to return to New Directions because they are going to need some strong female voices if they are going to win the Nationals.

Glee Episodes Review

Santana starts the episode in Principal Figgin’s office. She is under threat of suspension for hitting Finn in the face in last weeks episode. Santana spins a story of an evil alter ego called Snix who took control of her slapping hand. However, Finn changes his tune and declares Santana innocent on the condition that her Troubletones colleagues join him and the Glee Club in a pre-Sectionals discussion.

During this “powow” Finn wants both the show choirs to show support for Santana coming out by covering music “by ladies and for ladies”. He thinks this is going to help her feel better and get through her secret being exposed. We hgave a performance by Kurt and Blaine of “Perfect” by Pink, they of course know what Santana is going through.

Santana is resistant to the support of her friends, but Finn persists in getting through to her. He is worried that the anger she directs at the people around her could end up being directed internally and result in her doing something stupid and hurting herself. Finn tells her that she means something to him. It’s a bit hard to understand Finn’s reasons, but remember that Finn has a gay step-brother and played a part in outing Santana.

Puck performs “I’m The Only One” by Melissa Etheridge for Shelby. Quinn attempts to distract him by offering a romantic night together but Puck turns her down, and not in a nice way! We find out that Quinn wants to have another baby because she can’t have Beth. Quinn is acting pretty crazy and Puck is working to convince her that she doesn’t need a baby or to have pink hair in order to be special.

Finn sings “Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper as part of his trying to convince Santana to accept the help she is being offered. It’s a pretty serious subject they are addressing and it is done quite well.

Santana is approach by a creepy guy in the hallway who wants to help her change her mind about men, but she is rescued by the Glee Club girls. Santana, Rachel and the rest of the girls sing “I Kissed A Girl” by Katy Perry together and Santana decides she’s going to follow tell her family about her sexuality.

When Santana comes out to her parents they are understanding, which she is surprised about. However, her grandmother isn’t so accepting, even when told how unhappy Santana is about hiding her sexuality.Santana is told by her grandmother to get out and that she doesn’t want to see her again! For her grandmother, Santana’s sexuality is a sin and she should have lived a lie instead of coming out of the closet. It’s a bit harsh on Santana, but it is nice to see her softer side for a change.

Sue is wondering whether her campaign opponent was implying that she too might be a lesbian so she decides to get out her little black book and find herself a man. She flip past Dan Quayle (“too needy”), Oliver North (“biter”), and Matt Lauer (“too much crying”) and settles on Coach Beiste’s man, Cooter Menkins! Whilst Sue mocked Beiste, she did fight back, telling Cooter, “If I had to bench-press a wildebeest just to prove to you how much you mean to me, I would do it.”

The coach runs in to Sue and Cooter together and is understandably upset. Cooters tells her that, “I want a girlfriend, not a buddy” and that their relationship wasn’t heading towards the girlfriend part. We finally hear the coach sing a good rendition of “Jolene” by Dolly Parton.

Despite all of Sue’s manipulation and schemeing, she loses the election and Burt wins the seat! Sue and Coach Beiste is hotting up for a battle over Cooter with Sue keen to keep him and the coach willing to do anything to get him back.

Shelby called Puck to the hospital after his daughter, Beth, cut her lip. When they got home after the trip, Shelby took Puck to bed. She’s entered dangerous groundnow she’s moved from flirting with a student to sex with a student. He gets angry later on when Shelby tells him their sleeping together was a mistake.

Puck, for some reason known only to him, confesses all to Quinn. Knowing her almost psychotic breaks, who knows what this is going to do to her, particularly as Puck as spurned her advances recently.

Kurt and Rachel are getting worried about the Senior Class President elections because it appears Brittany is in the lead and Kurt desperately needs this on his resume.

Rachel, in an attempt to help Kurt stuffs the ballot boxes with votes for him, but unfortunately doesn’t think her plan through fully and adds more fake votes than there are senior class members! Rachel ends up confessing what she has done to prevent Kurt getting punished and ends up with a weeks suspension plus she is banned from going to the sectionals.

At the end of the episode, we see Kurt congratulating Brittany on her win, despite the fact he is distraught at losing. The closing song is “Constant Cravin” by K.D. Lang, which includes a verse by Shelby for her craving for Puck. With the suspension and ban for Rachel, her dream of her and Kurt living in New York is looking like it is in serious jeopardy. Do you reckon she must really, really love Kurt?

Glee Episodes Review

Right at the beginning of this episode Puck confesses all about who he has a big “thing” for a gives a great rendition of Van Halen’s “Hot For Teacher” featuring Brittany with a tie around her head, Puck on the electric guitar and some very interesting dance moves from Blaine and Mike. As we saw Puck put the moves on Shelby last week.

Quinn is still desperate to get Beth back and because Puck thinks he is really in love with Shelby, he tells her all about Quinn’s antics to try and prove her an unfit mother. This has the unfortunate effect of Shelby telling Quinn in no uncertain terms she will not be allowed to see Beth any more.

We also get an interesting revelation about the Sectionals where we find out that New Directions and the Troubletones will be facing off against each other. There will also be another group called the Unitards which could be very interesting. Despite the fact that they will be competiting against each other, Will and Shelby try to bring them together with a good old mash off. The two teachers perform a mash up of Lady Gaga’s “You & I” and Eddit Rabbit’s “You & I” to demonstrate what they mean.

Finn is getting really fed up of Santana’s trash talk and New Directions and Troubletones square off against each other in a game of dodgeball. This game has a rather good mash up of Blondie’s “One Way Or Another” and Pat Benator’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” in it. The girls decide they are going to attack Rory with the balls and he ends up with a bloody nose as a result. Mercedes tries to get Santana to get along with Finn, but her apology is bordering on mean and Finn calls her a coward for not comign out.

Sue is in the rampage with her smear campaign against Burt Hummel who is running against her for office. She has some very wild and frankly unbelievable accusations through the commercials he is running including that he has a baboon heart and he married a donkey!

Kurt steps in to try and stop her, but Sue tells him that all political campaigns have to get dirty and if he wants to win his campaign for school president will have to get dirty. Kurt refuses to listen, telling her that he will win with honor.

A the student body presidential debate Kurt vows to ban dodgeball after the earlier accident and Rory’s bloody nose. Rachel gives up on the spotlight and drops out of the race to support Kurt and help him to win the campaign. Rachel is keen to be BFF’s again with Kurt which is the major reason she dropped out of the race.

Quinn is after joining the Troubletones because she wants her baby back.

On mash up day we see New Directions perform a Hall and Oates mashup with “You Make My Dreams Come True” and “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)”, looking like they fell off the Miami Vice set in the 1980′s!

Puck and Shelby continue to get very much closer and Puck dons a fake mustaches (and looks very much like Tom Selleck!) as we see him becoming more and more paternal.

Sue’s congressional opponent, Reggie “The Sauce” Salazaar has a daughter at McKinley High who heard Finn “out” Santana. Reggie runs an ad campaign where he forces Santana out of the closer by advertising that she is a lesbian in an attempt to reveal Sue’s true family values to the voters! Obviously this could cause Santana some serious problems because she is firmly in the closet about her sexuality.

Then we see a brilliant Adele mash-up from the Troubletones performing “Rumour Has It” and “Someone Like You” with some smouldering glances between Santana and Brittany. After the performance, Santana seeks out Finn with the speed of a homing missile, yells at him for wrecking her life and gives him one hell of a slap!

Poor Santana has a major issue to face in that she’s now been outed to her parents. Will they be supportive and accepting? Will Sue’s smear campaigns backfire on her and will Kurt win his presidency?

Glee Episodes Review

Tonight we get a surprise, football coach Shannon Beiste is still a virgin! Much of the focus of tonight’s show is about some of the Glee Club kids losing their virginity, hence the title, “The First Time”.

Over the last couple of seasons we have seen a tasteful and subtle build up of relationship drama to tonight for Rachel, Blaine and Kurt, which climaxes tonight.

New Directions are busy preparing for the opening night of their school musical, “West Side Story”, which is probably one of the most performed musicals in high schools across the country. Artie is directing the show and enjoying the power the position of director brings.

However, Artie thought the emotion and tension between Rachel and Blaine as Maira and Tony wasn’t strong enough. Artie tells them that West Site Story is a story of sexual awakening and asks them, “Have you ever done it?”

The answer is no, neither of them have as they were waiting for just the right moment and right person.

The man of Coach Beiste’s dreams turns up in the form of Cooter Mankins who is visiting McKinley to recruit players for Ohio State football team. For Finn, this is an opportunity to impress and hopefully gain a scholarship. Despite Cooter’s best efforts, Coach Beiste does not get the hint that she is being wooed, until Artie intervenes and manages to convince Cooter to ask her out on a date.

Coach Beiste and Cooter Mankins have their first date at the opening night of the musical, which is surprisingly good. It could have been a lot worse. Sure, the accents weren’t the best, but they were passionate about the performance, the costumes were excellent and Santana looked ravishing as Anita.

Glee Season 3 Episode 5 - the First Time imageBlaine makes his return to Dalton Academy to invite the Warblers to the opening night of the music. Together with the band, he performs an brilliant version of “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel and their moves were really spot on, much sharper than they were in past episodes.

But then Blaine is tempted by another man, Sebastian who showers Blaine in compliments and flirts with him outrageously. We see Blaine with that adoring puppy dog look that Kurt has when he sees Blaine. Sebastian asks Blaine to meet with him “Warbler to Warbler” as we see Santana and Rachel practise their duet of “A Boy Like That”

Out on the football field, the team are watching increduously as the recruiter, Cooter, flirts with Coach Beiste, even giving her a compliment on her new tube socks.

Blaine wants him and Kurt to be more adventurous in their relationships. Later on, Kurt interrupts Sebastian who is suggesting a fling with the former Warbler at the cafe. The three of them make plans to be a bit more adventurous and decide to visit Scandals that night, the local gay bar.

Elsewhere Rachel and Finn are enjoying a candelit dinner and when they get into bed, Rachel tells Finn she is ready to lose her virginity mainly due to her stage persona, Maria. When she realizes she has made a mistake in telling him this, she tried to back pedal and insists she loves him, but he leaves anyway.

Mike Change gets the ultimate ultimatum from his father. He’s told that if he continues to pursue his dreams and becomes a professional dancer, rather than the doctor his dad wants him to be then he is disowned, “You can no longer be my son” his father says.

After Artie’s little chat, Cooter asks Coach Beiste out for a “real honest to God sit down date” and presents her with a bouquet of red roses. Despite her lack of self confidence he refuses to take no for an answer and they arrange their date.

Rachel goes seeking advice from “her girls”, telling Brittany, Santana, Quinn and Tina that Finn ran out on her. Both Quinn and Santana tell her to wait, with Quinn telling her “Speaking of experience, Finn is terrible in bed”. Tine however, blushes as she admits that her first time was incredible because it was with Mike, her first love. This admission causes Rachel and Santana to sing a few lines of “One Hand, One Heart”.

Kurt and Blaine have procured fake ID’s and are heading to the Scandals bar, where Sebastian is waiting for them with drinks. As they are dancing, Kurt is joined by Karovsky, who admits he just wants to get through high school. Blaine, as drunk as a skunk, tries to pull Kurt (the designated driver) into the backseat for a little loving and ends up walking home alone.

Back in the auditorium the next day, Artie gets presented with a huge arrangement of flowers just before the curtain goes up. Will excitedly tells Emma that his is “without a doubt” the best musical McKinley High has ever put on. Santana and Puck’s lead performance of “America” earns them a standing ovation.

Mike sees his mother in the crowd applauding wildly and Kurt find Blaine practicing his dance moves. The two of them make up and Blaine confesses “Sebastian doesn’t mean anything to me”. Together they skip Artie’s after show party at Bread Sticks and head over the Blaine’s house instead.

We see Rachel, dresses as Little Hot Pink Riding Hood visiting Finn who is very upset and disappointed that he wasn’t recruited by Cooter for Ohio State. He’s telling her that “I suck!” and “I’m not good enough” as well as “It’s all over for me”.

As the show closes, we see both couples entwined in their beds with Rachel and Blaine singing the love song, “One Hand, One Heart”.

Glee Episodes Review

Mr Schuester is well set to make a comeback with New Directions lined up for the Regionals and having put his relationship difficulties in the past. However, as we can expect, this good feeling doesn’t last and Emma rushes into his Spanish class to tell him there is an emergency.

It turns out that Sue is extremely distress over losing her Cheerios budget to the Glee Club and has left a suicide not. Even though Emma and Will find out she’s faking it, Sue is very depressed by the budget loss. Emma convinces Will to get Sue in to the Glee Club to help her feel better.

Rachel decides that now she is single she is going to focus on her ‘career’ in order to get over Finn. She decides she wants to make a comebackk herself and pays Brittany to dress like her. The plan kid of works as the other students follow Brittany’s version of Rachel’s hot librarian look. The trouble is, Brittany’s adaptations of Rachels look isn’t really working to raise her profile at the school.

Even Sam has a comeback plan and decides that if he styles himself like Justin Bieber he’ll be able to get Quinn back. Without anyone knowing he’s been performing at bah mitzvahs as the “Justin Bieber Experience” to improve his act. He puts on a performance for the Glee Club and they are pretty dubious about him. However, the girls swoon when he performs “Like, Baby Baby Baby”.

Sue wants to make a comeback too and knows the only way to do so is to destroy the Glee Club and decides she going to stir up trouble. She asks Rachel and Mercedes separately to give her lessons in being a diva so she can get her groove back. She causes trouble by telling them both that the other doesn’t think they are very talented.

Because of Sue’s meddling, Mercedes and Rachel decide they need to have a diva-off to prove they talent. After an outstanding performance of “Take Me or Leave Me” from the musical Rent they hug and make up, foiling Sue’s plan.

Lauren is nervous when it comes to her turn to perform in front of the Glee Club, which Puck uses as an opportunity to pursue her. He tells her that picturing everyone naked works really well for stage fright and is a traditional cure. She performs “I Know What Boys Like” by The Waitresses and it is well recieved.

When the Glee Club meet again, Mr Schuester tells the club that if they want to dominate the Regionals then they need to perform an anthem. Sue helps them to perform “Sing” by My Chemical Romance which everyone, except Rachel, thought was excellent. She still believes that if they really want to stand out at the Regionals then they need to write their own song, but everyone else disagrees with her.

When they finish performing, Finn tells Rachel he agrees with her about writing their own song and that he loves the way she stands up for what she believes in. Sue becomes the new director of Oral Fixations and is gunning for New Directions.
