Glee Episodes Review
In this welcome return to our screens, we see a new character joining McKinley High. Brittany has Rory Flanagan, an Irish exchange student visiting who she thinks is a leprechaun that only she can see.
Quinn and Puck are desperate to get their baby, Beth, back and so are being very nice to Rachel’s mom, Shelby. They convince her to let them baby sit so she can have some much needed time to herself.
Sue is still on a mission to destroy arts funding and in her nightly “As Sue C’s It” spot on the news, she whips her views up into a rage so they demand that Figgins cancels the school musical.
Meanwhile, Mercedes is trying to persuade Santana to defect from the Glee Club and join Shelby’s all girl club as they will get more solos. Santana isn’t convinced and is very reluctant to leave Brittany behind. The Glee Club are sad that Mercedes has defected and Finn tells them all they have to stick together and move on.
Blaine tells them that they could find some more talent for the Glee Club and Finn isn’t happy at Blaine’s apparent attempt to take over his role of leader. Will Schuester has a cunning plan to sell advertising space in the program for the musical in order to get the funding they need.
Finn meets up with the new kid from Ireland, Rory, in a classroom where he is separating marshmallows from a box of Lucky Charms for Brittany. He tells Finn that Brittany promised she’d let him in to her pot of cold if he got her a whole box of marshmallows. When Rory confesses to being lonely, Finn says that they can be friends but only if Rory spies on Brittany and lets him know if there are any more people going to leave New Directions.
Kurt visits his dad in his auto shop and asks him to take out an advert in the program for the musical. When Bert finds out that funding for the musical has been cut, he gets a number of local funeral parlor owners to buy the rest of the advertising space and make sure the musical goes ahead. The businessmen all turn up at Figgins’ office to make sure he is very aware of how much they disapprove of the funding cut.
Kurt’s dad bumps in to Sue in the hallway and confronts her, telling her that he will raise enough money and ensure she loses her race for election.
Meanwhile, Puck and Quinn are babysitting their daughter. Quinn has a plan to call child protection services and busy Shelby for being a bad mother so she is hiding suspect items around the house. Whilst Puck doesn’t look like he’s completely on board, he doesn’t stop her from her nefarious task.
Rory gets hazed by the jocks in the school hallways and then bumps into Brittany. He gives her the box of marshmallow charms and is told he’s just two wishes away from getting in to her pot of gold. Her second wish is “Make Lord Tubbington poop candy bars”. Rory tries his luck and asks her to go to dinner with him, but she turns him down, having already made plans. Rory then wanders the corridors of McKinley High singing, “It’s Not Easy Being Green”.
Brittany then goes out on her dinner date, and we see her with Santana at Bread Sticks. Santana wants to know if they are dating and Brittany tells her that isn’t having dinner together a date? Or what about the bath they took together last week? The revelation that they are, in fact, dating makes Santana well up with tears. Brittany tells her girlfriend all about her new ‘leprechaun’ and Santana asks her to join the all girl Glee Club run by Shelby. Brittany wants to think that decision over, and the two of them hold hands under a napkin whilst enjoying their dinner.
There appears to be a leadership competition at the Glee Club between Finn and Blaine, particularly when Blaine sings an upbeat song about last Friday night to get the Glee Club motivated.
Rory is met by Santana in the hallways where she bullies him into agreeing to persuade Brittany to join Shelby’s group. At home, he sneaks in to Brittany’s room to put a couple of Baby Ruth bars into Lord Tubbington’s cat litter tray. He shows her the magic when she walks in to the room and tells her that Santana wishes for her to leave New Directions. Brittany gives in and agrees because she can’t deny a wish made to a leprechaun.
Mr Schuester goes to meet with Bert Hummel at his garage to tell him he should run against Sue for Congress but Bert is already one step ahead and has started a write-in campaign. Will agrees that he will help Kurt be his fathers campaign manager.
Quinn informs Puck that he has to get a job that pays more. She tells him that whilst he may get all the action with the town MILFs he wants as a pool cleaner, it won’t be enough to support them when they get Beth back.
Shelby refers Puck to an indoor pool gig and Puck appreciates that she is trying to help him so goes to visit her night to “thank” her for the recommendation. All he wants to do is get inside her house and remove everything that Quinn planted.
His daughter, Beth, is crying and won’t stop until Puck plays a song to calm her down. He sings “Waiting For A Girl Like You” by Foreigner, but is he singing to Beth or to Shelby?
The next day, Rory informs Finn of Brittany’s plan to leave New Directions. Finn goes to speak to Brittany to convince her that leprechauns aren’t real and that she has to stay in the Glee Club. He then foolishly calls her an idiot for believing in leprechauns which makes her walk away with Santana and go straight to the rehearsal of Shelby’s group.
This all girl singing group decide to call themselves The Troubletones and do a very up tempo, high spirited 40′s style performance. Finn and Will realize just how much this new group is going to challenge them and how hard it will be to beat them.
In the hallway, Finn meets up with the girls of The Troubletones and congratulates them on a brilliant performance. He’s keen for them all to remain friends and he tells Brittany he is sorry. She accepts his apology and Rory pipes up that her third wish came true, that her friends wouldn’t be upset with her for leaving New Directions.
However, Brittany knows how much her departure has upset Finn and that she knows leprechauns aren’t real. Santana tells him to get lost and disappear.
Finn then discovers Rory about to be beaten up by a group of football players who want him to say that U2 aren’t any good. Finn realizes that he should have stood up for Rory some time ago and leads him to their rehearsal. As Rory wows everyone with his amazing falsetto, we see Puck making moves on Shelby at her place.
